Question: Our exhaust filter banks take pads, can we use roll media?
Answer: A few scenarios exist where you can use roll media in your spray booth that currently uses pads.You can buy a roll of the appropriate width and cut your own on an as needed basis. The easiest way is to use a cardboard template (or filter pad) and a razor knife to ensure correct consistent size. Remember it is better to have a slightly larger filter that can be tucked in during installation than too small a filter that would leave overspray bypass paths.Another option is a roll media conversion. Frequently high volume shops will fabricate additional filter racks to either completely replace, or double (use in tandem) the exhaust filtration system. Advantages include reduced downtime due to filter changes and/or extra filtration to protect the plenum, fan and exhaust duct work from overspray. This allows a longer duration between filter changes and stack cleanings.
